OOPS She Did It Again!!

About a year ago I found Chloe in the bathroom like this;

It was fixed pretty well to look like this;

It wasn't too bad of a fix, but it took about 6 months to grow it back out, then it was back to normal. You may be thinking, "Hey Dummy put the scissors where she can't get them!" And they were put away, this was done with her little kiddo scissors. Don't cut...my foot!

On Monday I took her in to get it shaped and cut cute for school pictures on Wednesday. It looked like this...SO CUTE!!

Yesterday afternoon I was in the office doing some bills and she was in my room drawing pictures. She came in and said something to me and kinda distracted I looked at her and thought, "That's weird that her hair is tucked behind her ears, she HATES that." A few minutes later she came back in and I realized that I had really seen this;

This was not done with normal scissors, she got into my scrapbooking stuff and used the little ones that get in small places...I think that is why it ended up as short as it did! I am not quite sure how she got a hold of them, but she did! I don't know if "OOPS" is the right word, but I was speechless for about 20 minutes and just sat with my head in my hands not knowing what to do.
This time the fix wasn't so easy but we ended up much better than I thought possible!

It actually suites her quite well and I am thinking maybe it is better to keep it short and next year we won't end up with this problem again...yeah whatever, I have said it before and I will say it again, SHE'S CHLOE! Her dad threatened to send her to the orphanage for kids who cut their own hair if she ever does it again. Heaven love her, I know I always will!!

Happy Happy Birthday Baby!

Our little Kate is 1 today. She entered this world smiling and has not stopped since. She wakes up happy, eats happy, plays happy and goes to bed happy. She is the loved and adored by all who see her and the pride and joy of Alec and Chloe...and her Dad and I.

No baby was ever loved more by her siblings. She tolerates Chloe incessant towing around and yet seems to want more because she follows her everywhere. She thrives on any attention Alec shows her and loves to be apart of whatever he is up to. She has learned and grown so much in this short year it is hard to believe that it has only been that long. It has been so fun to watch it all and we can't wait to see what the next year brings. We love you Katey-Pooh and don't know what we would do without you! Have a wonderful birthday!

I have been saying it for YEARS!!

Ever since Chloe has been mobile, she has had problems. She is clumsy and uncoordinated and she just outright runs into things. I have said for years that I don't think she can see just right. Being visual challenged, very, very challenged, myself from a very young age, I have had the sneaking suspicion that she was following in my footsteps. We would ask her if she could see things far away, airplanes, birds, etc, and she always could and she passed the eye tests her pediatrician would do at her check ups just fine. I was beginning to doubt my Mother's Instinct. At her 4 yr check up, the doctor noticed that she had a slight exotropia of the right eye, aka lazy eye. I asked if that could be why she was so clumsy and she said probably not because it most likely had just developed. We needed to take her into an eye doctor to check it out. Well we went to the eye doctor last Thursday. No exotropia. He asked if she seemed to be clumsy and unbalanced recently? I said, "Yeah, her whole life!" He said, "Well she is nearsighted, she needs glasses." I got glasses when I was 5, so at least we caught it a little bit earlier in her and here's hoping that she will not end up as blind as her old mom, I am not to optimistic however! So anyway, we went to Wal-Mart and got a very good deal on a cute little pair, which is fantastic because, well....she is Chloe and I am sure these will be the first of many pairs. The Good, The Bad and The UGLY!!

Last Thursday was pack meeting. Alec was pretty excited because he was earning several awards and it was also the Pinewood Derby! Here is how the night played out...


The Good


Alec was awarded his Wolf along with his gold and 1 silver arrow and 5 belt loops.


The Bad

THE UGLY


It didn't matter how "bad" the car looked, the race was UGLY!! The cars raced three heats, once down each lane, A, B then C. Down both lanes A and B, Alec's car did not even finish, it came up about 1 foot short. Down lace C it rolled to a very slow stop at the end, but at least made it all the way. Poor Alec was mortified with the first 2 heats, but kept on going. Even though the whole audience was laughing and joking, he understood that it was not at him, but at his poor pathetic derby that had wheel and weight issues. Eric felt so bad, having been a pinewood derby loser himself, and vowed that next year will be redemption year!! Sorry Bud!

Back to Bear Hollow!

Last Wednesday Chloe got to go back to school! She was so disappointed when Alec started 2 weeks before she did and we had a major countdown of "How many more times do I need to go to sleep before I get to go see Miss Molly?" It was a mixed emotion day. I was glad that she was sooooo excited to go back to school and that the countdown was over....but sad that she will be gone 3 times a week for 2 1/2 hours. The time is nice, but I miss her! It also bothers me that she does not seem to miss me much while she is gone, maybe being with her cousin Tyson has something to do with that, at least I can pretend right?? I hope she has a great year!
